Since my first self-taught efforts, awe-guided by Hillary Stewart's delicate descriptions of cedar bark weaving, I have had the great fortune to study with some of our times' finest weavers and teachers, namely Jane Stafford on Salt Spring Island, BC., Nilda Callañaupa Alvarez in Cusco, Peru, Jacquetta Nisbet of Sooke, BC., and most recently, Gladys Vandal (Jiixaa) of Haida Gwaii, BC. These women are a lasting inspiration to myself and many others in the world of textiles. |
