Handwoven cloth is like a second skin in which we wrap ourselves each day of our lives, from birth to death. In many ways, cloth is the medium of humanity. To weave and felt is to breathe the stuff of life in and out of the threads and fibres. Textiles-in-the-making have the capacity to capture, contain and express the human experience. Once off the loom, each textile continues to bear its own life, as it is used to wrap, carry, decorate and clothe us, thereby acquiring more intimacy and meaning through use over time.
I simply love designing and weaving customized cloth for others; delving into the art of bringing imagination to life in living colour, texture and drape. The process involves weaving the immaterial into material by way of careful design, collaboration and transformation, as memories, stories, ideas and intentions are woven into the fabric.
