These burial shrouds are hand felted with the most luxuriously soft and shimmering fibre blends of wool and silk. When I make a shroud intended for someone who has died, I create it with the fragility of life in mind; honouring the life and the loss that death emphasizes. I hope that the tenderness and love that goes into hand felting a shroud, helps to carry us through the sadness and grief of loss. I see it all as part of the same beauty. The beauty of the human experience, if we allow ourselves to feel it.
My sincere gratitude to the Ontario Arts Council for granting me the funds to create and develop this burial shroud template.
