A bout of me
I have always loved making beautiful things with my hands. Things that hold, contain, carry, adorn, and wear with time; full of use and meaning. I was born and raised in the Ottawa Valley, and the Islands of the West Coast are also home. I feel very connected to and inspired by the beauty of the land, sea, sky...
I found a familiar part of myself when I discovered weaving. Since my first self-taught efforts, awe-guided by Hillary Stewart's delicate descriptions of cedar bark weaving, I have had the great fortune to study with some of our times' finest weavers and teachers, namely Jane Stafford on Salt Spring Island, BC, Nilda Callañaupa Alvarez in Cusco, Peru, and Jacquetta Nisbet on Vancouver Island, BC. These women are a lasting inspiration to myself and many others in the world of textiles.
